American Legion Buffalo Bill Post 347, LeClaire, IA Scholarship

The American Legion is for God and Country, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and to perpetuate a 100% Americanism.  We chose to endow a scholarship because we believe that an education is important for the continued success of our country.

Criteria to Apply:

• Member of a military/veteran’s family
• A person of good character
• Must attend a two or four year college or vocational school upon graduation.
• Loyalty and good work ethic
• Positive citizenship and loyalty
• Special consideration given to applicant with financial need
• No GPA requirements

Scholarship Personal Statement/Essay:

• In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us why you've chosen your field of study.
• In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us what your plans are after your post-secondary education is complete.
• In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us about one of the following: your ability to problem solve, work with others, and/or your dedication to the community.
• In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us how you've overcome an obstacle.
• In less than 250 words (1700 characters), please tell us anything else about yourself you think the selection committee would like to know.
• Discuss briefly in 250 words or less how being a part of a military family has impacted your life, including the challenges and rewards.
