Lindsay Suhl Memorial Scholarship

The Lindsay Suhl Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 by her family and friends when she died of cancer at the age of 14.  Lindsay would have been a member of the PVHS class of 2008.

Lindsay was diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in February of 2004.  Lindsay was in the 8th grade at Pleasant Valley Junior High at the time.  She had lived in Bettendorf just over a year and a half at the time of her diagnosis, but was already a friend to many.  Her friends and family remember her for her witty sense of humor, her fun-loving personality, her generosity and compassion, her ability to make everyone feel comfortable, and her contagious smile.  She believed everyone deserved a chance, treated everyone fairly and didn’t judge people on their looks or beliefs.  She was a high honor roll student.  She worked hard and always strived to do her best and didn’t quit until she accomplished what she had set out to do. She enjoyed volleyball, track, and basketball.  She loved to read and was a huge Harry Potter fan.  Before moving to the Quad Cities, she was involved in softball, basketball, track, and was a cheerleader.  She spent her summer months on the lake swimming, water-skiing and tubing.

Lindsay was an awesome sister and role model to her two younger sisters, Lauren and Devyn.  She was the type of daughter a parent could only dream of having, but for her parents it was a reality.  Her family’s hope is that this scholarship will help make the road for a prospective college student a little easier financially and that it keeps Lindsay’s memory alive.
