Spirit of Inclusion Scholarship

In May of 2017, Pleasant Valley High School received the Spirit of Inclusion from Varsity Brands.  With the award came a $10,000 prize which was used to endow this scholarship for a Pleasant Valley student who has gone above and beyond to foster a spirit of inclusion.

At Pleasant Valley High School, the administrators, staff, and students embrace an unwavering commitment to inclusion. In 2008, students at Pleasant Valley created the nation’s first inclusive cheerleading team, the Spartan Sparkles. Building on that PV pride, students created “PV Pals,” a club that brings together students with and without disabilities for social activities. The UNITE Club, another student-driven endeavor, believes in universal respect for all races, nationalities, religions, gender identities, sexual orientation, abilities, appearance, and financial status. Each month, club members spotlight a different group of students to raise awareness and promote understanding, acceptance, and respect.

Selection Committee will include:  Advisors from the Sparkles, Shining Stars, UNITE Club and a HS Counselor.
